It has been awhile since I've posted developmental milestones and just general fun facts about Elaina. So I thought I would take some time to do that tonight.
Elaina responds to her own name as well as her nicknames; Baby E, Baby Elaina and at times Ellie-Belle. We've focused on one name, Elaina, instead of her various nicknames so she learns her name. Hey - it's important.
She understands the concept of "no" not only will she stop what she is doing if we say no; but she will shake her head no at us. If she's all done eating she shakes her head no, meaning nope I'm full don't feed me anymore! She'll do this with her bottles as well.
For awhile she wouldn't eat anything green, much like her daddy. However, this has changed she is now eating green beans, peas and even lima beans. Tonight we discovered she LOVES barley of all things. *giggle* She is very much a carb girl and loves her Cheerios, wagon wheels, bread, and puffs. She isn't a big fan of bananas but likes peaches, pears and LOVES mandarin oranges.
She says "mama" and "dada" and babbles with changes in tone. Sometimes it seems like she is trying to make a point as she babbles to us. She probably is trying. *giggle*
Elaina has become shy and shows caution toward unfamiliar people. Which is a good thing. :)
She enjoys imitating other in play - especially her big brother.
Elaina is now testing adult responses to her own behavior and actions. She'll make faces, keep going after the outlets after repeatedly being told no but will look at you slying as she is doing it.
You've seen and read in many other posts that Elaina is definitely on the move. She is crawling, standing, cruising along furniture and at times will stand without support.
She enjoys exploring objects in different ways - she'll shake, bang, throw and drop things she's playing with. She especially enjoys toys with sound. She also LOVES all of Zach's toys. So much so we need to keep them in another room. Zach enjoys playing with his sister so there are some toys of his that they can play with together and then of course there are Zach's 'old toys'. She really enjoys playing with Zach. He likes to hide things from her behind his back but she'll look for them and find them which makes Zach giggle with glee.
Elaina loves music. She makes eye contact when sung to and smiles in response to music. She also likes instruments and will 'play' them when music is playing. She also listens and pay attention to tonal and rhythm patterns in music. She loves to clap hands too!
She is growing and developing great!! She is making great strides and is growing so fast - sometimes a little too fast for this mom. I just want to enjoy each stage she goes through and appreciate it. With Zach we were so excited to see him grow and develop that I'm not sure if we appreciated the various stages he was at. This time goes by so quickly so I just want to take the time to appreciate it and sit back and watch. So yes, even my parenting style has changed with a second child.
