Tonight's Annular Eclipse

Tonight Dave, Zach, Elaina and I walked over to one of the parks in our neighborhood to watch the Annular Eclipse. Dave constructed a viewing box to safely watch the event.

The little dot is the sun and you can see the moon passing in front of the sun -- the little shadow. I did not purchase a solar filter to safely take photos with my DSLR camera so I refrained from taking photos of the eclipse so I wouldn't ruin the light sensor on my camera. Hey! Stop giving me kisses Zach!!

In this photo it looks like Elaina is yelling. She is actually looking at a dog and instead of saying "woof woof" Elaina pants like a dog does. So that's what she is doing here.

She's watching the dogs do their fetching exercises. The dogs did stop over to say hello and Elaina loved it! However, because they were larger dogs she kept her distance and just looked and pointing with delight, and of course panting, which the owner just loved and thought was so cute.  Hey we do too!

Dress Up!

Zach being a "silly cowboy". Zach was running the circle  -- Kitchen, living room, front entry, dining room/playroom - and was going so fast this is the only photo that turned out and it's still a little fussy.

Fall Family Photo Session

This past November we had Elaina's one-year and Zach's four-year professional photos taken by Leann of Honeybee & Peony. We also took a few family photos as well - hey why not?!

Patricia, my college friend Carmel's mom, let us take photos in the gardens around her house. The fall colors were spectacular! (Thank-you again Patricia!) I am a lover of autumn so her house was the perfect backdrop. And we didn't have people walking in the background of our photos.

Primrose Picture Day

Primrose had Mandy from Glimpses of Soul Photography take photos for school picture day.  The photos of Zach and Elaina are cute:

I have to say I really enjoy school photos like this over the standard school photos with the fake backgrounds and studio lighting. Yes, I'm a big fan of natural light photography the photos just look better and are more natural.

Dave and I haven't decided if we're going to order photos from Primrose picture day as we are having professional photos taken of Elaina and Zach this week. Yes, we had professional photos of the kids in July - but this upcoming session is for Elaina's one year photos. Can you believe she's going to be ONE already?! The session doesn't cost anymore to include Zach in the photo shoot so - why not have photos taken of both kids?

Birthday Hat from Carmel!

I made a little request for an owl hat from Carmel's needles and this is the finished hat  on its' way. I LOVE the buttons Carmel found for the owl's eyes. 

Elaina will be able to wear this for her 1-year photos which will be taken in just 10 days at Carmel's mom's house actually. It looks like the weather is going to be sunny and in the 50's so perfect weather for an afternoon photo shoot! Yeah!!
