Ultrasound Results

This morning we had our 19-week level-2 ultrasound. The baby is growing well and appears to be healthy and normal according to the ultrasound screening. The baby weighs about 12 ounces and is measuring at 20 weeks, 2 days (we are 19 weeks, 5 days today) so the baby is growing and is right on track.  We did find out the sex of the baby and today's ultrasound found we are having a baby girl! So we are very excited to have one of each.  Of course, we would have been happy with a baby boy as well.  Zach has been saying all along that he is going to have a "baby sister" so at least we do not have to correct him. *giggle*

A Full Email Inbox!

We sent out our email announcement to friends and family that we are pregnant and have received so many Congratulations emails from all of you!  It's exciting and fun to share the news with everyone.  Thanks to those who have forwarded our announcement to those we didn't have email addresses for.  I'm still trying to reply to all of you - so don't think that I've forgotten you. :)

In many of the emails, we've received a lot of great advice from people too.  My cousin Connie's advice is to buy the baby things you like and see while shopping so you are choosing things for baby too.  You'll receive LOTS of stuff from friends and family which is needed and very cute but to remember to buy those things you see because they give you great memories.  How true!!  Thanks Connie!  I've taken this advice to heart. *giggle*  Many of you know I've been collect Classic Pooh for years and well...I've been adding to the collection.  There was a baby crib set on clearance at Target - so when adding my employee discount to the price I felt like I was stealing from the company the price was so low!  I have just been purchasing nursery items so far and only when on sale.

Many people have told me to gets lots of sleep now because I won't be sleeping much later.  *giggle*  If they were here now they would know that I am not sleeping through the night even now.  I have never been a person that has to get up to pee at night - but now...it's at least three times a night!  I swear it's to prepare your body for when the baby is born to get you used to getting up during the night.

My college friend Jess said to sleep when the baby sleeps it doesn't matter if it's the middle of the morning or the afternoon - to sleep when you can.  My mom told me this tip too. 

Thanks to all the friends that call and check in weekly or more to see how things are going and to see how I'm feeling. Karen hasn't been home much because of work so we chat on the phone while she's on the road.  My friend Nancy calls everyday...I'm surprised she hasn't gotten sick of me talk about being pregnant.  Although...we do talk about a LOT of other stuff too! *giggle*

We feel so blessed that our baby will have so many friends and family that will care for her and that are so happy for us.

Welcome to our little baby blog.  Feel free to stop in and read where we are at, what we are feeling, our ups and downs, and of course we'll be posting pictures too!  So stop back often.   Of course after the baby is born we'll continue to update the blog with photos and what is happening in our family's life.

Buca and Babies!

Tonight Dave and I joined Marie, Brian, Christie, Brad, Kim, Lucy and Matt for dinner at Buca di Beppo in Eden Prairie.  We were very excited about going to dinner tonight because this was the last group of friends that we were waiting to tell our news to. 

We arrived at Buca and were seated - just waiting for Matt and Lucy.  Christie asked Marie how she was feeling and congratulations were exchanged between Kim and Marie & Brian.  Then Brian announced - do you want to see a picture?  Out came his wallet and they had an ultrasound picture of their baby at six weeks.  He passed the picture around the table.  So I thought...hummmm since we are sharing pictures I thought I would take our ours.  (We had our first ultrasound today) So I pulled the 8.5x11 folded sheet of paper and handed it to Marie and said.  Hey, we have pictures to share too.  She opened the folded sheet of paper and exclaimed - "You're pregnant too!?!"  Dave and I said - "Yup! and we're just two weeks behind you!"  Marie and Brian are due August 13 and we are due August 27. Marie and Brian were just as excited as Dave and I were to be pregnant at the same time as they were. 

It was WONDERFUL to finally be able to share our news with everyone - especially Marie and Brian!  I did feel bad that I had not waited to bring out the pictures until after Lucy arrived - but it was hard to contain the news.  Dave was good and brought Lucy and Matt up to speed on our news after they arrived and even made a funny, "we are pregnant, but it's not a LaF---!" (Last name omitted for privacy reasons) The whole table broke out into laughter.  For those of you not aware - Christie and Marie are cousins and they married brothers Brad and Brian.  So Christie and Marie are related on both sides and now share the same last name, "LaF---".  Dave and I hang out with them a lot but of course we are not related.  Perhaps you needed to be there...   

For the rest of the evening Marie had realizations of past conversations - OH THAT'S WHY YOU SAID YOU WOULD GO MATERNITY CLOTHES SHOPPING WITH ME!  You knew you were pregnant at your 12th Day of Christmas Party too!  *giggle* 

It was good that Marie and I were seated next to each other because we talked a lot about our pregnancies and being pregnant.  The others at the table were very excited for both Marie & Brian and Dave & I - but at the same time it can't monopolize the entire conversation.

Yeah!  Our friends and immediate families know - so now we can send out the email to everyone about our little blog.  Yeah!!  Although - I'll make one more post before sending that out with the ultrasound pictures from today!

Sharing our good News

Dave and I continue to share our good news with friends and family.  My parents have been spreading the news.  I have received emails from my cousin Suz, Aunt Mary and cousin Kris at work this past week.  (Kris knew a couple of weeks back - I told her at lunch.)  My dad told his mom (Grandma Lila) and Grandma Lila has been spreading the good news too. *giggle* 

I called Jason and Kelly in Duluth to tell them the news - they were both ECSTATIC that we are pregnant.  They have been waiting for us to catch up to them in the kids department - they have two kids in elementary school now.  I emailed my friend Lori in Duluth/Cloquet about being pregnant a few weeks back as well.  I told her about the same time I told my mom. *giggle*

I shared with our friend Karen last week over the phone.  I was able to tell her that YES I in fact lied on New Years Eve when I said I wasn't pregnant because we weren't ready to share with the entire world.  She just laughed at me.  We talked for a long time - I brought her up to speed on who all in pregnant and how I've been feeling.  She is the first friend to offer to baby sit after little baby H arrives. And you know - I'll be taking her up on that!

I chatted with my friend Cyd from Duluth on the phone.  She called me with some bad news actually.  Her husband passed away this past December and she's been trying to get a hold of me for a few weeks.   She was finally able to track down my correct phone number and tell me that Jerry had  passed away after being sick for a long time.  He had been battling cancer and other illnesses for a while and of course, it took a toll on him.  Cyd said there was nothing that could cheer her up since Jerry died.  I said, "really?  Not even my telling you that I am pregnant would spark even a slight smile on your face?"  Cyd responded - "YOU'RE PREGNANT?!?"  I replied simply, "Yes."  She didn't say anything for a bit - then she said - "I had to take in my smile because it's been awhile since I've done that - thank-you."   

Last Sunday we shared with Vikki, Valerie, Wanda, and Rob that we are expecting.  I kind of just blurted it out and here I wanted to do it in a fun way!  Oh well - it's exciting news to share in any shape or form.

On Monday I shared we were pregnant with our friends Marshall and Michele in an email - they both were quick to offer congratulations!

Then this past Tuesday - I shared with my co-workers at our team huddle.  It was fun to tell everyone our wonderful news.  I also sent an email to Vicki a ex T-Corp co-worker to share the news with her.  I haven't heard back from her yet - which is surprising.  She must be out of the office.

Then tomorrow Dave and I are going to share with Marie and Brian, Christie and Brad, Lucy and her boyfriend Matt, Clarinda and Michael and Kim if she is able to make it.  I'll see if I have any creative juices in me to think of a fun way to tell them when we are all at dinner at Buca.  We'll see! 

Once we tell the last group of friends at Buca on Friday - we'll be able to link this blog on our main blog and email to everyone we know about our little pregnancy blog.  I can't wait!!
